How much does it cost to use Yahoo! Groups?

Yahoo! Groups is free to both members and moderators. Our service is advertiser-supported and is partially sponsored by advertisements inserted into the email messages you receive.

What is Yahoo! Groups' policy on spam?

Yahoo! Groups has a very strict anti-spam policy. Members may not use our service to send unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, spam, chain letters, multilevel/pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation. Learn more about our spam policy.

How do I set up my Yahoo! Groups account?

Joining Yahoo! Groups is easy! To get started you will need to register for a Yahoo! ID and link it to any email addresses you wish to use for Yahoo! Groups.

Registration

Click on the Registration link on any Yahoo! Groups page or as shown on this web page above.
Complete the registration form and click on Submit This Form.
Note: The Yahoo! ID you choose must be unique. It does not need to match your email address.
You should receive an email confirming your registration. Make sure to record your Yahoo! ID and password. You will need these to sign into Yahoo! Groups.

Setting up your account
Sign in to your account to access the following features.

Use the Membership Wizard to locate your current subscriptions or to add up to 5 email addresses to your account.
My Groups allows you to manage your account and group memberships.
Click on the Account Info link near the top-right corner to change your Yahoo! account and profile information.

How do I join a group?

Join via the group page:

Locate a group to join. On the front page of Yahoo! Groups, you can browse the Groups directory or search for a group by topic.
Click on the Join This Group button on front page of any group.
If you are not signed in, you will be asked to enter your Yahoo! ID. If you do not have a Yahoo! ID, you can click on the link New to Yahoo!? Sign up now.
Set your membership preferences. When you join, you can choose a profile you'd like to display to the group, select the email address at which you'd like to receive group messages, choose how you receive group messages, and more.

Join the mailing list only:

We highly recommend you join a group via the group page (above). However, if you are familiar with mailing lists, you may join only the mailing list for the group. If you choose this method, you will not have access to all of the group's web features (Photos, Files, Links, Polls, Calendar.) In addition you will not have access to the My Groups page, where you can easily manage all of your memberships and email messages.

To subscribe to a group's mailing list via email, send a blank email to:
gowertonians-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You will receive a confirmation message. Just reply to this message and your subscription will be complete.

How do I leave a group or unsubscribe?

On the Web:

Sign in to Yahoo! Groups and go to the My Groups page.
Click on the Edit My Groups link at the top of the page.
Look for the group you wish to leave, and check the corresponding box on the right side of the page.
Click Save Changes at the bottom or top of the page.

The group will no longer be listed on the My Groups page, and you will no longer receive messages.

To leave/unsubscribe via email:

From your email program, send a blank message to: gowertonians-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

Alternatively, you may wish to remain a member but reduce or eliminate group email by changing your message delivery option to No Mail/Web only, Daily Digest, or Special Announcement.
